Kaseya, a firm that provides IT services to many companies in the US has been hit with a ransomware attack that targets as many as 1000 businesses.
This attack includes the it management software, Kaseya, which provides companies with IT management, and remote monitoring management tools.
The company has released a compromise detection tool to nearly 900 companies that requested it and are working together with the FBI and US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure agency to investigate the attack.
The attack involved a product from Kaseya that allows remote control and monitoring of computers systems that also takes care of updates and device maintenance.
Companies that were affected by this attack have already been hit with a ransom demanding $45,000 to upwards of $5 million.
